How to Apply for Classified Positions

We appreciate your interest in employment with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. To assist you in the application process, we have prepared the following information.

The University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.

1. 
Applicants applying for classified positions must complete a UALR application and referral card, even if a resume is submitted. Applications will be accepted only for positions that are currently advertised. Application and referral card are available in Human Resource Services and on the HRS Web Site.
2. 

Applications are screened for minimum qualifications. Please note that other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the basic requirements.

3. 

Applicant screening and testing takes place Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Human Resource Services. Applicants must take and pass a typing test if applying for clerical positions. The test is waived if applicant:

  1. is currently employed with the State of Arkansas in a clerical position, or
  2. has taken a typing test at the Employment Security Division or a recognized business school, etc., within the last three months. Proof of score must be provided and must meet UALR requirements for words per minute.
4. 

A background check is required on certain positions at the time of hire. Applicant will be made aware of this check in the interview.

5. 

New employees must:

  1. serve an initial probationary period of ninety (90) days.
  2. be able to provide satisfactory identification requirements for the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986 (Employment Eligibility Verification), and
  3. acknowledge notification of the State of Arkansas' Drug Free Work Place Policy.
6. 

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has a policy regulating smoking.

7. 

Applications remain active for three months. Applicants may use the same application to apply for future vacancies within the three-month period. To apply for other positions during this active period, contact our office by mail, telephone or drop by.
